iPad Apps

A clannie got a new iPad today, so I wrote up this list of app recommendations. It occurred to me that others might find it useful as well, so here it is.
These are all apps that I’ve loaded up and felt were worth keeping. That doesn’t necessarily mean I use them all the time, or even at all, so you’re on your own discretion as to whether you think you need them or not.  I put some stars next to particularly good stuff and stuff I use all the time though.

If you have any suggestions of excellent stuff I’ve missed, seriously post it in the comments. I’m always on the look-out for new apps. Particularly, for some unknown damn reason, find-the-hidden-object games. There’s a ton of them out there, and it is not easy to tell from the App Store page if it’s gonna be a good one or a crappy one. Why do I like those games so much? I do not friggin know.

Pandora — Pandora radio app
Buddha Machine — an ambient noise app. More musical than, like, white noise.
Netflix — does Netflix streaming
*GoodReader — PDF reader, top-class. Works with Dropbox if you have an account on that, which you should.
Discover / Wikipanion — wikipedia readers. The former is prettier, the latter seems more feature-rich (though I haven’t sat down and compared them)
Penultimate / UPAD — notebook apps. Again, the former is prettier, the latter more robust.
Sketchbook Pro — drawing
NPR / PBS / BBC News — I never look at these, but having them around makes me feel like an intellectual.
Dropbox — interface to your Dropbox account. Did you get one yet?
*Evernote — cloud-based notebook
*Reeder — RSS feeds. I think this one is Google Reader-specific, may not work if you use something else.
**ComicZeal — comic book reader
